Home Life, My Life

Home is my sanctuary. It's a place to rest but also for loving, creativity, socialising, awakening, exploring, and a whole bunch of other wonderful things like, cooking, music, reading, and singing at the top of my voice. I cherish it. I never take it for granted. And most of all, I love how it nourishes me back with its restorative gentle energy.

I guess it's the little things which make me feel "at home", comfortable, "me", like the llama ottoman covers my mum made for me, or the Frida Kahlo cushions my husband bought me for Christmas one year. It's also the colours. Pink and green are the colours of the heart chakra and resonate with love.

Connections to the past, to loved ones gone, are also important to me. I guess you could call it honouring our ancestors, much like they do in the ancient art of Feng Shui.

But home is also for making our own memories like making dinners for family or friends, laughing and singing loud around a piano, dancing in the kitchen with the radio volume up full, or snuggling on the couch watching a good movie. All of these things matter, and they all add up to putting happy vibes into a space. I think that's what really makes a home - it's the soul you put into it.
